FRANCIS KWEKU OSEI

Drums, Back Vocals, Percussion

My name is Francis Kweku Osei and I am a drummer. Drumming has been and will continue to be an integral part of my existence. Growing up, I have always aspired to be the world’s famous drummer. At the age of 4, I started playing percussions or the conga for churches in Cape Coast, the capital city of the Central Region of Ghana, until I started drumming for Ciltad Agoro Project the age of 7. I worked with them as their chief drummer for 2 years. After that, I continued playing for other churches and bands till I moved to Accra, the Capital city of the Greater Accra Region at the age of 17.

In Accra, where I currently live, I was fortunate enough to play for Tagoe Sisters (Award-winning gospel musicians) and Afro Moses (based in Australia), during his concert in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia. I have also played with Sekou Kouyate, Monique Seka (France), Hugh Masakela (South Africa), and Osibisa band, among others.

Because of my hard work and consistency in rehearsing every day, I have been able to master the art of playing all genre of music. I have played for some of Ghana’s legendary hi-life artistes like Pat Thomas, Rex Omar, Jewel Ackah as well as popular hip life artistes like Samini, Sarkodie, Efya, and Becca ( for 2 years).

Right after my contract ended with Becca’s band, I joined Ohia b3y3 ya band as their drummer for 3 years where we played for T.V reality shows like Stars of the Future seasons 2, 3 and 4 and Vodafone Icons (Mixed Edition).
Currently, at the age of 33, I am playing for the legendary Kojo Antwi and also recording and playing for Steve Bedi, Ghana’s finest saxophonist, Cwesi Oteng (Ghanaian Gospel musician of the year, 2012), Sonnie Badu (UK), among others.
